How to Replace Serpentine Belt 98-04 Dodge Intrepid
Difficulty: Beginner · About 30 min · Dodge Intrepid
Replace the serpentine belt on a 1998-2004 Dodge Intrepid.
Tools you will need
- Ratchet
- Socket extensions
- 13mm socket
- 15mm socket
Parts and supplies
- Serpentine belt
Steps
- Remove the old belt
Note the routing diagram (it's mounted in front of the radiator), loosen the pulley's 15mm nut with a wrench, loosen the 13mm bolt to slacken the belt, then pull it off.
- Install the new belt
Follow the diagram to feed it around the crank, alternator and power steering pulleys first, tighten the 13mm bolt to take up tension, tighten the 15mm bolt to firm it up further (tightening the 13mm bolt more if it's still loose), then run the engine and recheck the tension once it's warmed up.
Check your vehicle’s repair manual for exact specifications and fit.
