How to Replace Headlights 98-00 Volvo S70
Difficulty: Intermediate · About 45 min · Volvo S70
Replace a headlight bulb, the full headlight assembly, or aim the beam on a 1998-2000 Volvo S70.
Tools you will need
- Ratchet
- 10mm socket
- T25 Torx driver
Parts and supplies
- Headlight bulb
- Headlight assembly
- Parking light bulb
Steps
- Remove the parking light
Press its retaining tab and pry the assembly out, then unplug its wiring harness.
- Remove the full headlight assembly
Disconnect its harness, remove its three 10mm bolts, pop off the bulb covers and wire retainers if swapping bulbs instead, then remove the wiper stops with a T25 Torx driver for clearance.
- Install the new assembly
Refit the wiper stop, plug the harness back in, then bolt the headlight in with the 10mm socket.
- Reinstall the parking light
Plug its harness back in, then clip the assembly into place.
- Aim the headlights
With the car 20 feet from a wall, use the adjustment screws so the low beam sits about an inch below the bulb's height and the high beam sits level with it.
