Steps
- Remove the wheel
Loosen the lug nuts, then raise and support the car and pull the wheel.
- Remove the old strut
Unbolt the 12mm brake line bracket, remove the ABS sensor's 10mm bolt, soak the lower 17mm strut bolts in penetrant and remove them with a breaker bar, then unbolt the top 14mm bolts and pull the strut down and out.
- Rebuild the strut with the new mount
Pry up the top cover, set up spring compressors and alternate tightening them to compress the spring, remove the 17mm top nut, swap the strut mount (or spring/bellows if also replacing those), reinstall the mount and nut, then decompress the spring and bolt the strut back in, torquing the top 14mm bolts to about 20-30 ft-lb and the bottom 17mm nut to about 100 ft-lb, before reconnecting the ABS sensor and brake line.
- Reinstall the wheel
Torque the lug nuts to about 100 ft-lb.
