Soak the jam nut and tie rod stud nut in penetrant, back off the jam nut with a 24mm wrench, remove the 21mm stud nut, strike the spindle with a hammer to free the stud, then thread the old tie rod off the inner tie rod, counting the turns, and mark and count the turns to remove the jam nut too.
- Install the new outer tie rod
Thread the jam nut and new tie rod on using the same turn counts, seat the stud in the spindle, torque the 22mm nut to about 63 ft-lb, tighten the jam nut against it, then pump grease into the fitting until the boot swells slightly.
- Reinstall the wheel
Torque the lug nuts to about 110 ft-lb.
