How to Replace Serpentine Belt 99-02 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Replace the serpentine belt, including moving the radiator overflow bottle, on a 1999-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue.

Steps

1. Move the radiator overflow bottle aside

   Remove its two 10mm nuts, squeeze its hose clip with pliers, then rest the bottle aside on the engine cover.

2. Remove the old belt

   Note the routing diagram (draw one if needed), fit a 1/2 inch drive ratchet into the tensioner, pull to slacken the belt, then pull it off and release the tensioner.

3. Install the new belt

   Loop it between the crank pulley and water pump, under the A/C pulley, around the idler and alternator pulleys, then use the 1/2 inch ratchet on the tensioner to pull it onto the tensioner pulley last, checking the routing before releasing.

4. Reinstall the overflow bottle

   Set it back on its bracket, reconnect the hose and tighten its clip with pliers, then refasten its two 10mm nuts and run the engine to confirm the belt tracks correctly.
