Perform an oil and filter change on a 2014-2017 Subaru Crosstrek.

Steps

1. Loosen the filter and drain the oil

   Slightly loosen the oil filter first so it's easier to spin off later, raise the car and support it, then remove the 17mm drain plug into a pan, let it drain, and reinstall and tighten the plug.

2. Remove the old filter

   Finish spinning off the loosened filter and wipe the mounting surface clean with a rag.

3. Fit the new filter

   Coat the new filter's gasket with a thin layer of fresh oil, then thread it on by hand until snug.

4. Fill with fresh oil

   Remove the oil cap, fill the recommended amount through a funnel, replace the cap, then confirm the level on the dipstick.
