How to Replace Headlight 00-02 Ford Focus

Replace a headlight bulb or the full headlight assembly on a 2000-2002 Ford Focus.
Tools you will need
- Wire end cutters
- Flat blade screwdriver
- Phillips head screwdriver
- 10mm socket
- Ratchet
Parts and supplies
- Headlight bulb
- Headlight assembly
- Parking light bulb
Steps
- Remove the grille
Pop its retaining clips, remove its four bolts with a 10mm socket and extension, then twist out the parking light bulbs.
- Remove the old headlight assembly
Remove its two 10mm bolts and single Phillips screw, then disconnect its wiring harness.
- Swap a bulb if needed
Push the retaining tab in and up to free the bulb, disconnect it, then fit the new one and plug it back in without touching the glass.
- Install the new assembly
Cut off the old wire ties and retaining pins with snub-nosed cutters, fit the rubber boot that came with the new assembly, plug in the wiring harness, then bolt it in with the 10mm socket and Phillips screw.
- Reinstall the grille and parking lights
Swap the parking light bulbs if needed by unplugging and replacing them, then bolt the grille back on and clip its trim back in.
