How to Perform Oil Change 11-17 Honda Odyssey

Perform an oil change, including resetting the oil life indicator, on a 2011-2017 Honda Odyssey.

Steps

1. Loosen the filter and raise the van

   Remove the oil filler cap, raise the van on stands, then with a drain pan ready, loosen the oil filter with an oil filter wrench.

2. Drain the old oil

   Remove the 17mm drain plug, let the oil fully drain, then reinstall and tighten the plug with a 17mm wrench or socket.

3. Fit the new filter

   Fill the new filter partway with fresh oil, wipe a thin film of oil around its rim, then thread it on by hand until snug.

4. Fill with fresh oil

   Lower the van, remove the oil cap, fill the recommended amount through a funnel, replace the cap, run the engine briefly, then shut it off and confirm the level on the dipstick.

5. Reset the oil life indicator

   Press the push-start button twice, hold the steering wheel reset button and navigate to the oil service "B1" option, then select Reset and confirm the oil life reads 100%.
