Steps
- Remove the wheel
Loosen the lug nuts with the car on the ground, then raise and support it and pull the wheel.
- Remove the brake pads
Remove the caliper's two 12mm bolts, pull it toward the outside to push the pistons in, swing it aside, then pull the pads off by hand.
- Remove the brake rotor
Remove the bracket's two 14mm bolts, pull it off, remove the rotor's two retaining screws with an impact screwdriver, then pull the rotor off, striking it with a hammer if it's stuck.
- Remove the old hub
Pop off the dust cover with a hammer and chisel, straighten the hub nut's staking, remove the 36mm hub nut, then pull the hub off.
- Install the new hub
Push it on, start the 36mm hub nut and torque it to about 181 ft-lb, then stake it with a hammer and punch.
- Install the new rotor
Slide it on, insert its two retaining screws, transfer the rubber plug from the old rotor, clean the pad slides with a wire brush and grease them if they don't move freely, refit the bracket, then torque its 14mm bolts to about 45 ft-lb.
- Install the new pads
Seat them in the bracket, compress the piston with a C-clamp against an old pad, refit the caliper, torque its 12mm bolts to about 20 ft-lb, then tap the dust cover back on.
- Reinstall the wheel
Torque the lug nuts to about 90-100 ft-lb in a crossing pattern, then refit the center cap.
- Test the brakes before driving normally
Pump the pedal until firm, test stopping gently at 5 and 10 mph, then road test.
