Tools you will need
- Side cutters
- Floor jack
- Jack stands
- Flat blade screwdriver
- Channel-lock pliers
- Drain pan
- Needle-nose pliers
Parts and supplies
- Radiator fan assembly
- Coolant
Steps
- Drain the coolant
Raise and support the car, open the petcock at the radiator's lower passenger side into a pan, let it drain, then close the petcock.
- Remove the old fan assembly
Free the upper radiator hose's clips with pliers and slide the hose off both sides, unplug the fan's wiring harness and free it, then remove the two 10mm bolts above the hose fitting and the one on the opposite end before lifting the fan assembly out.
- Install the new fan assembly
Transfer the wiring harness connector from the old fan, hook it into the new assembly and reconnect it, insert the assembly into place, tighten its 10mm bolts, then refit the upper radiator hose.
- Refill and bleed the coolant
Push and twist the cap off, set a funnel in place and fill with the correct 50/50 mix, run the engine with the fan on low and heat on high, keep the level topped off while watching the gauge and vents, then once you get steady heat and no more bubbles, remove the funnel and refit the cap.
