How to Replace Cabin Air Filter 99-04 Honda Odyssey
Difficulty: Beginner · About 25 min · Honda Odyssey
Replace the cabin air filter on a 1999-2004 Honda Odyssey, which needs a small dash cutout since this generation has no factory access door.
Tools you will need
- Ratchet
- 8mm socket
- Socket extensions
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Vacuum
- Rotary tool or reciprocating saw
Parts and supplies
- Cabin air filter
Steps
- Remove the glove box
Empty the glove box, press in its stop clips so it swings down further than normal, pull the stops free, then twist off the clip holding the kick panel below it and remove the two 8mm bolts securing the bottom of the glove box before pulling it out.
- Open up the filter housing
This generation has no factory access door, so carefully cut away the small marked section of plastic dash trim with a rotary tool or reciprocating saw, then remove the Phillips screw and 8mm bolt holding the dash brace, unclip the filter door, and pull out the old filter, vacuuming out any debris in the housing.
- Install the new filter
Line up the airflow arrow on the new filter with the arrow on the housing, slide it in, clip the filter door shut, then reinstall the dash brace with its Phillips screw and 8mm bolt.
- Reinstall the glove box
Push the glove box stops back in, close it, then reinstall the two 8mm bolts at the bottom and refit the kick panel.
