Steps
- Remove the wheel
Loosen the 19mm lug nuts with the car on the ground, then raise and support it and pull the wheel.
- Remove the old pads
Unbolt the 12mm brake line bracket bolt, remove the 17mm caliper bolts, push the pistons back with a screwdriver, swing the caliper aside, pry off the old pads, then pull the pad slides and clean and grease them before refitting.
- Remove the rotor
Remove the 14mm bracket bolts and pull the bracket off, then pull the rotor off, striking its hub area with a hammer if it's stuck.
- Prep the new rotor and pads
Turn the new caliper's piston in with pliers, scrub the pad slides with a wire brush and brake cleaner, grease the slides and pad tabs, then clean the new rotor with brake cleaner.
- Fit the new rotor and bracket
Seat the rotor, hold it with a lug nut, refit the bracket, and torque its bolts to about 54 ft-lb.
- Install the new pads
Grease the pad tabs, seat the pads, refit the caliper, counter-hold the slide pin with a 17mm wrench while tightening the 12mm bolts to about 17 ft-lb, then tighten the brake line bracket's 12mm bolt.
- Reinstall the wheel
Torque the lug nuts to about 80 ft-lb in a crossing pattern, then snap the center cap and lug covers back on.
- Test the brakes before driving normally
Pump the pedal until firm, test stopping gently at 5 and 10 mph, then road test.
