How to Replace Headlights 03-12 Volvo XC90

Replace and aim the headlight assembly on a 2003-2012 Volvo XC90.

Steps

1. Remove the old headlight

   Pull up the two metal retainers, pull the headlight forward, disconnect its wiring connector, then remove it.

2. Install the new headlight

   Reconnect the wiring connector, insert the headlight, then facing the car, insert the longer retainer on the left side and the shorter one on the right.

3. Aim the headlights

   Mark the headlight bulb's center height, transfer it to a wall, back the car up 25 feet, then turn the adjusting screws until the passenger beam sits two inches below the mark and the driver beam sits four inches below it.
