How to Replace Serpentine Belt Tensioner 03-08 Dodge Ram 1500

Replace the serpentine belt tensioner on a 2003-2008 Dodge Ram 1500.

Steps

1. Remove the old tensioner

   Use a 3/8 inch drive ratchet on the tensioner to relieve belt tension, remove the belt and inspect it, then unbolt the tensioner with a 15mm wrench.

2. Install the new tensioner and belt

   Bolt the new tensioner on with the 15mm wrench, follow the routing diagram to lay the belt over the pulleys, then use the 3/8 inch ratchet to relieve tension again and walk the belt onto the last pulley.
