Replace the serpentine belt on a 1999-2004 GMC Sierra 2500.
Tools you will need
- Flat blade screwdriver
- 15mm socket
- Ratchet
Parts and supplies
- Serpentine belt
Steps
- Remove the old belt
Move the intake hose aside by removing its clamps and breaking its seal with a screwdriver, unclip the radiator hose, note the routing diagram, then use a 15mm socket on the tensioner to relieve tension and pull the belt off.
- Install the new belt
Follow the diagram to route it, relieve the tensioner again with the 15mm socket to get it onto the last pulley, then refasten the intake hose clamps and clip the radiator hose back on.
